NoJoMo 2009

Sun Nov 1, 2009, 12:59 PM
I thought it was time for an update...

Who's doing NoJoMo this year? This is my first year doing it so I hope I can complete the challenge!!

Here is today's entry;

S, my name is Sarah...
Write an entry without any words beginning with the letter your first name starts with.

I've decided to take part in NoJoMo this year. I don't know if I can complete it but I'm going to try my best.

God this challenege is hard and it's only day one. I have to keep thinking what words I can and can't use. It gives me a chance to extend my vocabulary anyway!

I hope you all had a great Halloween. I stayed in watched Most Haunted Live and had a few drinks. I didn't have any trick or treaters. Thank God I decided against putting my dog in a costume (I can't write her name)!

My mister (I can't write his name either) is working until midnight tonight. He went in early which means he gets to come home early.

I can't believe it's November 1st already. The baby girl is 1 in 4 days! It's also my first year anniversary too :) It's gone too fast and there have been times when I've thought we'd never make it here. Well we still have 4 days to go but I doubt anything is going to happen during that time :P

Right well that's all I can think of for now. My apologies for this entry, it's not exactly riveting is it? :P

An early happy birthday...

Thu Aug 6, 2009, 1:58 PM
For my gorgeous fiancé :)

He's 25 tomorrow, which actually coincides with DA's birthday so a an early happy birthday for DA too!

Cotton is doing very well. She's my new kitten for anyone who doesn't know. She seems to be bonding with me the most. I actually feel guilty because Sky (my German Shepherd) bonded with me. Nevermind she's only 10 weeks old and animals always attach more to one person.

She's currently laying on my shoulder asleep. She's so gorgeous I really can't describe it.

She now has a lovely cream and scratching post from pets at home. It's this one but in pink; [link] When she's older I'm going to get one with a seat on top but for now this is perfect for her.

Sky is in the middle of her first season. I am so glad I've got wooden flooring. She's not really sure what she's doing and there is so much blood. I'm literally cleaning up after her every 5 minutes.

I'm entering her into a charity dog show in September. She'll be entered in best puppy, dogs over 15 inches, lovliest eyes, waggiest tail and dog the judges want to take home. I'm meeting up with another dog owner from [link] so it should be fun!!

I think that's about it really, hope you're all having a good one x

Back on form + possible HP spoiler

I am feeling a lot better now so thanks to everyone who expressed their concern. Swine flu is definitely something I don't want to experience ever again.

I went to see Harry Potter yesterday. I really enjoyed it. I was told that if you had read the book you would be disappointed but we have to understand that it's an ADAPTATION. It's not going to be spot on. There's not enough time to explain everything so they worked with what they could and put in all the important bits. Yes, the plot was given away too quickly for my liking but other than I really liked it. I'd go so far as to say it's my favourite film. It was funny, fast moving, action packed and dramatic. The ending wasn't as sad as I expected it to be but I can overlook that.

I really hope the director for this film directs the last two films. I thought his style of filming was great and the actors, especially Emma Watson have got so much better.

Lavender was loopy but not as bitchy as I expected her to be.

Thanks to everyone who has favourited my work lately. I can't believe I'm nearly at 60,000 pageviews. I don't know where these extra pageviews have come from lately because I haven't been very active but I am thankful for every single one.

Oh and another thing, browsing deviations to fave? Why not google a random word generator, you'll find some amazing works that you would normally miss!!

Swine flu, I have it.

Wed Jul 22, 2009, 5:01 PM
I was diagnosed late last night.

It's so much fun - NOT.

Edit: I suppose I should elaborate for those who are worried.

Do not panic! Seriously, it's the worst thing you could do. Stress lowers your immune system so you would increase your chances of catching swine flu if you come into contact with it.

It seems obvious but wash your hands after you go to the toilet. Sneeze into a tissue, dispose of the tissue in a bin then wash your hands straight after. If possible carry antibacterial gel around with you. Masks are going to do bugger all! Good hygiene is the key!

If you have any symptoms phone your GP straight away. They may diagnose you over the phone or they may send someone out to swab you (I was diagnosed over the phone). Use the NHS Direct website as a symptom checker: [link]

If for any reason you think you may have swine flu do not leave the house. Do not go to work, to the shops, anything. If you do have it you are passing on the infection making more people ill. If you live with anyone they should not leave the house either.

Once you are confirmed with swine flu you may or may not be given tamiflu. I am asthmatic but I have not been given tamiflu because I cannot take it. I am on paracetamol and believe me, it does exactly the same thing as tamiflu.

Whether you are taking tamiflu or paracetamol it should kick in within 3 days. If you feel ill beyond 5 days and/or have a change of severity in your symptoms you should phone your doctor and explain. Do not get in the car and go to a hospital. That is the worst thing you could do and you are wasting valuable resources if there is nothing to worry about.

You should stay inside for around a week or so. You are most infectious at the onset of swine flu but even though you will get better you could still have swine flu in your system.

Do not listen to media hype! Swine flu is a new strain of influenza and yes it has killed many people across the world but the same happens every year with the 'normal' strain of influenza! The only reason you should be worried is because there is no immunity to it. Thre is no vaccine which there is for regular flu.

Do not panic. Drink plenty of fluids, rest and stay inside!

A&E and Bengal Cats

Wed Jul 15, 2009, 1:17 PM
So I've spent the weekend and the best part of this week in and out of the hospital. Don't worry, I'm fine :p

2 years ago my OH was in a motorcycle accident. Some idiot in a car decided not to indicate or slow down and plowed straight into him. Sean was flung off his bike and landed on a roundabout (only the small ones). He cracked his pelvis in two places, fractured his L5 verterbrae and almost broke his back. It took months on intense physio to get him back to 'normal'.

Last Thursday he slipped and fell in work. He continued working for another night but Saturday night he had to phone in sick. He was in absolute agony so Sunday afternoon I took him to Baglan A&E. We were referred to Morriston A&E because Baglan only had nurses in the department, no back specialists.

We spent hours in Morriston waiting to be seen, had an x-ray done and were told to return the next day. We went back the next morning and spent another good few hours in the fracture clinic to be told we'd have to see a back specialist and a physiotherapist in Baglan.

We were then told by Baglan hospital that there were 30 other people waiting to be given physiotherapy before Sean.

D: Needless to say I'm tired, he's tired, he's in pain and we're both pissed off.

But on a brighter note, I've been doing more research on the Bengal cat breed. I'm getting an F5 blue eyed snowy rosetta male from a breeder I am friends with in summer 2010. I can't wait :D

Here's the queen; [link]

My kit will look similar to this; [link]
But with blue eyes like this; [link]

I'm so excited! I'm going to be paying around £350 but it's more than worth it for such an exquisite purebred :) I've had rescue cats all my life and I love them but this cat is for me and me only
