Edit: I just noticed that I have 200 watchers! Wow thanks!
I came across a popular deviants journal today to find this person bemoaning the fact that their latest piece of work had only got 78 s. He said it would at least get 200 s in 24 hours.
I found that odd...and quite conceited o.O Now I may be overreacting because s are nice, everyone likes getting s but they're not everything.
dA if anything is an art appreciation site. I love looking at people's art, and I like to /comment on it...but you can't force someone to like your work.
I just thought it was a shame he was ranting about something so petty, because I really like his stuff (including the piece he was ranting about ). At the end of the day the amount of s your art has won't change your life. It certainly doesn't change mine. When I get off the internet I still have to do normal everyday things. I still need to make sure my mother takes her medication. s mean nothing in the end.
I've heard people say that they'd like the system abolished...I wouldn't I think it's a nice thing to be able to someone's work. I know I more than I comment
are something casual, but I am flattered with them, specially when they come from good artist.
Because this is an artist site and at the end we all share each other work. Some art appreciators or fans do have accounts and watch popular deviants/artists.
Some people have thousand of watchers and of course they get hundreds of faves or make the top page because of drama...
It`s interesting when you haven`t got that many watchers and people still fave the work and comment ...
It all comes down to me to friendship amongst artists and fans... and the support at good or bad times...
Art will always be the reason of people being here in DA. Some of us, might not be able to always be present, but the art stays.
And well, friends do come and go, suddendly, specially on internet, but meeting the artists and being able to be in touch with them is amazing. Specially if you are a fan like me
I agree it was a little strange of a journal. I got it too. I admit I am always surprised and flattered when my work gets faved but I surely don't expect it. Thats when you start getting into the whole "mighter than thou" mentality. I think most artists are pretty humble so it is a bit dismaying to see someone who thinks they are God.

Your 'fans' put you where you are, so you should at least be humble to them. To say that they must your work is very ungrateful I'm always surprised when someone s my work, especially when it's an older piece! But I'm grateful for it and I always thank them.
